Two People Killed, One Seriously Injured in Queens Car Accident Involving Taxi Cab

When people come to the city to visit, they often place their trust in taxi cab drivers to get them to where they need to go.  This is almost always a good decision, as driving in the city can be harrowing, especially when someone is not familiar with the area.  Tragically, a woman and her grandson allowed a taxi driver to take them from the airport to their hotel over the weekend, but they didn’t make it before being involved in a terrible Queens car accident that took the lives of two people and seriously injured another.

According to the authorities, this Queens car accident occurred on the Long Island Expressway at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.  A 60-year-old woman from Utah and her 11-year-old grandson were on their way to a hotel from the airport in a taxi.  As they neared 66th Street in Elmhurst, the taxi driver lost control of the vehicle and it clipped a Porsche.  The taxi slid into the path of an oncoming garbage truck.  The taxi driver and the woman were killed, but the boy was saved because the woman reportedly shielded him from impact with her body.
