Man Turns Himself In After Fatal Staten Island Hit-and-Run Accident

According to the authorities, this Staten Island hit-and-run accident occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Thursday night.  A 57-year-old woman was walking with her daughter and young grandson towards home.  As they were on Cary Avenue near Roe Street, a 40-year-old male driver of a Ford SUV approached them at what was described as a high rate of speed.  The woman pushed her grandson out of the way and was dragged for nearly 150 feet by the vehicle.  The driver fled but identified himself a few hours after this crash.  The woman was killed instantly and the grandson suffered a broken bone in his leg.
