Woman Sues Laser Hair Removal Clinic for $5 Million

Laser hair removal has become extremely prevalent in recent years, as this technology offers a high degree of promise to those who do not want to undergo regular waxing or electrolysis treatments that can be painful, time-consuming and largely ineffective in regards to long-term results.  While these laser hair removal treatments are quite common and relatively simple procedures, that does not mean that nothing can go wrong.

Unfortunately, something apparently went very wrong when a woman sought this laser hair removal treatment for her torso in March of 2009.  The woman, Shira Nehum, 29, of Manhattan, has filed a $5 million New York medical malpractice lawsuit against the LaserKlinic of Astoria, located at 31-24 Steinway Street because of what she claims was a botched procedure.  She went to the clinic to have hair from that portion of her body removed, but for some reason the results left her with scarring that appears in polka-dot form across her torso.  She claims that she has attempted to remove these scars with several different treatments including creams and bleach, but that the scars remain.

New York Medical Malpractice Lawyers

Unfortunately, this is hardly the only issue involving medical malpractice that occurs with regularity.  According to statistics, hundreds of thousands of people are killed every year because of some sort of medical mistake, more than a million are injured as a result of medication errors and approximately 100,000 people die in hospitals because of other errors.  Statistics regarding mistakes made in laser treatment facilities are sure to emerge eventually as the treatment becomes more popular.

In situations like the one mentioned above, a person could file a New York medical malpractice lawsuit and seek damages for pain and suffering, costs required for corrective treatments and other forms of compensation.  However, claims like these should not be filed without the help of experienced New York medical malpractice lawyers who understand what it takes to hold medical facilities accountable for the harm they cause.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald Toll Free +1-800-323-9900 today to schedule a free initial consultation.
