Woman Critical After Being Hit by Boyfriend in Harlem Hit-and-Run Accident

New York pedestrian accidents occur at an alarming rate, and New York hit-and-run accidents also remain an enormous problem for the population in general.  However, there are some incidents where the term 'accident' may not be a completely accurate description.  Unfortunately, that's what police are alleging in the wake of a horrific Harlem hit-and-run accident that occurred early on Saturday morning after a man was suspected to have run over his female acquaintance and then allegedly fled the scene.

According to the authorities, this Harlem hit-and-run accident occurred at 3 a.m. on Saturday morning when a 28-year-old male, who had been arguing with his 23-year-old girlfriend, allegedly ran her down in his Honda and then continued driving.  The incident occurred on West 46th Street outside the El Tequilazo bar, which is located at 43 West 46th Street.  The suspect is accused of running the woman down in his vehicle, leaving her in critical condition.  The driver was found a few hours later after he crashed the Honda and he was arrested.

New York Pedestrian Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our thoughts and our support for the woman who was critically injured in this Harlem hit-and-run accident.  In addition, this crash will now become part of the overall statistics regarding New York pedestrian accidents.  Every year, more than 15,000 of these collisions occur, leading to nearly as many injuries and to more than 300 fatalities.

New York Personal Injury Lawyers

In general, when someone is harmed in a New York pedestrian accident, it could lead to the filing of a New York personal injury lawsuit in which the plaintiff pursues damages for medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.  However, when a crash occurs that involves intentional conduct, the plaintiff in many cases can also pursue punitive damages because of the nature of the situation.  This could be one of those situations depending on all of the factors involved.

If you or someone you love has been harmed in a crash, you need to seek the help of New York personal injury lawyers who have been fighting for the rights of the injured for 40 years.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today to schedule a free initial consultation.
