Teen Critically Injured in Bronx Hit-and-Run Accident

When people cause New York car accidents that result in injuries or worse, it's possible that those drivers will either be cited or charged with a crime depending on the specifics of the situation.  However, when someone is involved in a New York car accident where someone is injured or worse and flees that scene, that driver will almost certainly be charged with a crime.  Unfortunately, that appears to be what occurred yesterday afternoon when a teen was critically injured in a Bronx hit-and-run accident.  Police are still searching for the driver.

According to the authorities, this Bronx hit-and-run accident occurred yesterday afternoon at 3:45 p.m.  An unidentified 18-year-old man was walking near Morris Avenue and East Burnside Avenue in Mount Hope when he was hit at the intersection by the driver of what has been described as a white car.  The teen was critically injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital, and at this point the driver involved in the crash has not been identified or apprehended.

New York Pedestrian Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our thoughts and our support for the young man who was critically injured in this Bronx hit-and-run accident, and we hope that the driver involved in the crash is soon identified and brought to justice.  In addition, this Bronx pedestrian accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding New York pedestrian accidents.  Every year, more than 15,000 people are injured and more than 300 people are killed in these occurrences.

New York Personal Injury Lawyers

Clearly, if or when this driver is located, he or she will face serious criminal charges.  In addition, this driver could ultimately face a New York personal injury lawsuit if the man who was injured decides to initiate such a filing.  If he does and the case returns a favorable verdict, the man could be awarded damages that compensate him for his losses, including his medical costs, his lost income and his pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been injured in a crash, you need to seek the help of New York personal injury lawyers who have been fighting for clients who have been harmed for 40 years.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today to schedule a free initial consultation.
