According to authorities, this fatal Brooklyn pedestrian accident occurred on Saturday morning at approximately 10:15 a.m. when Maria Prikul, 80, and another woman were in Bath Beach near Bath Avenue and 18th Avenue.  At that point, a vehicle being driven by 52-year-old Mario Vasquez of Brooklyn hit the two women.  Ms. Prikul was dragged under the vehicle for a block, and the driver attempted to flee but was stopped by neighbors.  He was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of crime with a fatality, unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a license and driving while intoxicated.  Ms. Prikul was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
