When a tire blows out on a vehicle, those who are riding inside are instantly put in a position of grave danger, especially when that vehicle is traveling at a high rate of speed and is carrying a large number of people.  Tragically, that appears to be what occurred to members of a Bronx church when a New York van rollover accident took place over the weekend on the Thruway that left six people dead and several others badly injured.

According to authorities, the latest fatal New York van accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when members of the Joy Fellowship Christian Assembly in the Bronx were riding in a van to a celebration with a different church's congregation.  The van was traveling on the Thruway near Newburgh at about 3 p.m.  The rear driver's side tire suddenly blew out, and the van's driver lost control of the vehicle.  It flipped and rolled several times, throwing people as far as 20 feet from the van and across the roadway.  In all, six people died and several others were seriously injured.
