Six People Injured in Disastrous Queens Car Accident

Many New York car accidents involve only one or two vehicles.  While these crashes can lead to dangerous consequences, the risk and danger involved skyrockets when multiple vehicles are involved in a chain-reaction collision.  That appears to be what occurred today when several vehicles were involved in a Queens car accident, and based on the description of the scene provided by police, it's a miracle that no one was killed even though six people were injured.

According to authorities, this terrifying multi-vehicle Queens car accident occurred at 1:45 p.m. today and involved a city bus, an SUV, a van and a parked 18-wheeler.  According to accounts, the accident occurred at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and the Clearview Expressway in Hollis, and it started when the city bus was coming down an off-ramp at a high rate of speed.  The driver of the bus then collided with the van and the SUV, and the impact of this initial crash sent the vehicles flying into a parked 18-wheeler, which toppled over onto a building along the side of the road.  Six people were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment of injuries that varied in severity.

New York Car Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our hope that the people who were injured in this crash are able to quickly recover from the harm that was suffered.  We are also relieved that no one was killed in a crash that could easily have been much worse.  In addition, this Queens car accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding New York car accidents.  Every year, 187,000 people are injured and more than 1,200 people are killed in these occurrences.

New York Personal Injury Lawyers

Based on the facts that are available, it seems possible that the driver of the bus was negligent absent some sort of mechanical problem with that vehicle that was not his fault.  Therefore, it's possible that the other people who were injured could file New York personal injury lawsuits after taking proper steps with the municipality that owns the bus line.  If these claims are filed and are successful, it could lead to an award of damages for those who were harmed that compensate them for their medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you love has been injured in a New York car accident, you need to seek the help of New York personal injury lawyers who have been successfully defending the rights of those harmed for many years.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today to schedule a free initial consultation.
