Queens Pedestrian Accident Seriously Injures Woman

Pedestrians who walk through the city know very well that when they do so, they encounter some degree of danger.  Their safety largely depends on the avoidance of mistakes by motorists, and when a mistake is made, disaster is often the result.  Unfortunately, a Briarwood woman paid a heavy and painful price for what could have been a mistake by the driver of a bus Wednesday when she was seriously injured in the latest New York pedestrian accident.

According to police, this New York pedestrian accident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 9:30 a.m. when a 90-year-old woman was hit by a school bus on the corner of Parsons Boulevard and 84th Road.  The woman was returning home and was less than a block from it when she crossed Parsons and was hit by the bus.  The bus was onto Parsons Boulevard from 84th Road.  She was thrown several feet and suffered head injuries.

New York Pedestrian Accident Statistics

First, we'd like to extend our hopes that the woman who was hit will be able to overcome her injuries, and fortunately she is currently listed in stable condition even with head injuries.  Secondly, this incident will only add to the overall statistics regarding New York pedestrian accidents overall.  Every year in the state, more than 15,000 New York pedestrian accidents occur, leading to nearly as many injuries and more than 300 fatalities.

New York Personal Injury Lawyers

While more would need to be learned regarding the details of this Queens pedestrian accident, if the woman was crossing in the crosswalk and was following traffic signals, it's possible that she could have a New York personal injury claim against the driver of the bus.  If such a claim was successful, she could recover damages that compensate her for medical costs as well as pain and suffering.  However, this sort of decision should only be made with the help of New York personal injury lawyers who have been successfully fighting for the rights of injured pedestrians for almost 40 years.  Anyone in this situation should contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today at 1-800-323-9900 to schedule a free initial consultation.
