One-Vehicle Central New York Car Accident Kills Two, Injures Two Others

Young people are seen by auto insurance companies as the biggest risks in terms of their age group actuary charts for a reason.  Statistics show that the younger a driver is, the more likely he or she is to be involved in a New York car accident, regardless of gender.  In short, experience matters behind the wheel, and tragically, a lack of experience may have had something to do with a fatal Central New York car accident that occurred over the weekend that killed two people and injured two others.

According to state police, this fatal New York car accident occurred in the Town of Ithaca at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sunday morning.  25-year-old Corey L. Henderson was driving his Toyota sedan south on Route 13 at what's believed to be a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Route 13 and Route 34/96.  The vehicle struck a utility pole in the median, and the driver along with 18-year-old Tkeya Harris was killed.  Injured were Gerald A. Smith, 20, and Jameel C. Melton, 27, both of Ithaca.

New York Car Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the people who were killed.  In addition, we hope that those people who were injured are able to recover from the harm they have suffered and get back onto their feet quickly.  In addition, this Ithaca car accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding New York car accidents.  Every year, 187,000 people are injured and another 1,200 people are killed in these occurrences.

New York Wrongful Death Lawyers

Drivers owe a legal duty of care to their passengers.  What this means is that drivers are supposed to avoid unreasonable conduct that places anyone else in a situation of danger or risk.  It seems possible that the driver was negligent in this Ithaca car accident.  If so, it's possible that the family of the passenger who was killed and the passengers who were injured could file New York personal injury lawsuits that if successful would lead to a recovery of damages for the harm they have suffered and for their losses.

If you have lost someone you love in a New York car accident, you need to seek the help of New York wrongful death lawyers who have been holding those responsible for these losses accountable for 40 years.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today to schedule a free initial consultation.
