One Injured When Utility Pole Falls on Vehicle in Staten Island Car Accident

Governments at all levels are responsible for the upkeep of different types of roads so that their conditions do not deteriorate to the point where motorists are placed in a situation of unreasonable danger simply because they use those roads.  While it's too early to know exactly what caused a utility pole to crash down on a vehicle today, what is known is that one person was injured as a result of this Staten Island car accident and that police are continuing to investigate the situation.

According to the authorities, this single-vehicle Staten Island car accident occurred just after noon today on the Staten Island Expressway near the Bradley Avenue exit.  An unidentified motorist was driving a Nissan sedan at that location when a utility pole suddenly began to fall over.  It crashed to the ground, but not before it fell on top of that vehicle as the motorist was driving.  Somehow, the driver managed to pull the vehicle over to the shoulder, but that driver was transported to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

New York Car Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our sincere hope and support that the person who was injured in this freakish Staten Island car accident is able to recover from the injuries suffered quickly and fully.  In addition, this crash will now become part of the overall statistics regarding New York car accidents.  Every year, more than 187,000 people are injured in these occurrences around the state, and another 1,200 people are killed.

New York Car Accident Lawyers

If it turns out that the pole that caused this Staten Island car accident was not properly maintained by the governmental entity responsible for it, then it's possible that the driver could eventually file a New York personal injury lawsuit against that entity in an attempt to recover damages for medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.  However, any time a public entity is involved, there are steps that need to be taken before a New York personal injury lawsuit can be filed.

If you or someone you love has been harmed in a crash, you need to seek the help of New York car accident lawyers who have been defending the rights of the injured for 40 years.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today to schedule a free initial consultation.
