The woman was six months pregnant at the time, and she has filed a notice of claim with the city that could set the wheels in motion for a $5 million New York birth injury lawsuit.  According to her account of the situation, the woman opened her door last month as a neighbor pounded on it after her apartment had been burglarized.  The neighbor angrily accused the woman of committing the act, and the two got into a fight after repeated denials. 

Police were called to the scene, and the woman claimed that she was forced to the ground on her belly and that her arms were pinned behind her back in handcuffs for approximately 10 minutes.  Prior to being pinned to the ground, the potential plaintiff admitted that she attempted to strike the frenzied neighbor and mistakenly connected with the police officer, leading to her being subdued.  The woman found out at a doctor's appointment four days after the incident that her unborn child had no pulse.
