Man Seriously Injured in New York Subway Accident

Millions of people use the New York subway every year, and the vast majority of those who use this form of transportation do so without incident.  However, when something goes wrong near a subway, situations can move from uneventful to disastrous in a matter of seconds given the size and speed of these underground trains.  Such appears to have been the case with a New York subway accident that occurred this morning that left a man seriously injured.

According to authorities, the latest New York subway accident occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m. this morning at 77th Street and Lexington Avenue.  A man was hit by a downtown number 6 train at that time, and as a result of the impact the man's leg was severed.  He was rushed to a nearby hospital, and while no foul play is suspected the police did not release details of the accident in regards to how the man's leg  came into contact with train.  His name was not yet released.
