Even though air travel is statistically safer in general than driving a vehicle, that's not necessarily true for small, private aircraft. There are risks involved with any type of air travel, and when something does go wrong, it often leads to disaster. Such appears to have been the case with a Long Island plane crash that occurred yesterday in which a private plane made a crash landing on a residential street, killing one passenger and injuring three other people.
According to reports, the latest New York plane crash occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on Sunday when the pilot of a private, single-engine plane was practicing landings with three passengers. It's believed that the pilot, Gus Halouvas, 55, of North Bellmore, encountered engine trouble and crash-landed the plane Republic Airport in East Farmingdale on a residential street. Ed Cerverizzo, 75, of Garden City, was killed and two other passengers along with the pilot were injured.

New York Wrongful Death Lawyers
While more facts would likely need to be uncovered in terms of assigning fault to this New York plane crash, it seems highly unlikely that the passenger killed or the passengers injured were at fault. If the at-fault party is identified, it's possible that the family of the passenger killed could file a New York wrongful death lawsuit and those injured could file New York personal injury lawsuits that would attempt to recover damages that compensate them for their losses, both tangible and intangible in nature.
