National Law Firm for Hemiparesis and Infant Strokes
Hemiparesis Birth Trauma Lawyers
For over 30 years, the law firm of Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald has been committed to fighting for children with birth injuries. The firm has successfully handled hundreds of birth injury cases, including birth trauma cases involving hemiparesis. In one hemiparesis case, our birth trauma lawyers represented a child who was born using Kielland forceps. Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald argued that the forceps delivery caused right-side hemiparesis and subsequent brain damage. The jury awarded the injured infant $2,400,000.

What is Hemiparesis?
Hemiparesis is the partial paralysis of one side of the body. In the case above, the hemiparesis was on the right side. Hemiparesis is associated with hemiplegia, also known as hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Hemiparesis is caused by damage to part of the brain. This damage can happen in utero, at birth, or later by a birth injury related to an accident, illness or stroke. Hemiparesis usually results in some learning difficulties.
An infant with hemiparesis will have significant medical bills and expenses for special care. If you retain Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald to represent your child, we will investigate your child’s medical records, including records from the pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum periods. After consulting with pediatric neurologists and other medical experts, we will attempt to identify the cause and time of your child’s hemiparesis. If the hemiparesis could have been avoided, we will seek to recover compensation from those responsible.
