Gruesome Staten Island Car Accident Kills Two, Injures Four

Most of us have gotten dressed up and headed out for a big night at some point in the past.  For most of us, those nights didn't end in disaster and tragedy.  Unfortunately, that's exactly what occurred over the weekend when a horrific Staten Island car accident killed two people and injured four others.  According to witnesses, the group had been out celebrating a birthday party and may have left a bar just before this crash occurred.

According to police, the latest fatal Staten Island car accident occurred on Saturday night when a vehicle that was moving at a high rate of speed at Arthur Kill and Annadale Roads.  The driver of the vehicle lost control and it spun out of control, flipped and smashed into a utility pole with so much force that the vehicle was nearly split in two.  Both people in the front seat were ejected, and the men who were killed were identified as Daniel Peluso, 19, and Jeffrey Capretta, 20, both of Staten Island.  The four others were rushed to a nearby hospital.  The group had been drinking at the Clubhouse Lounge in Staten Island before the accident occurred.

New York Car Accident Statistics

First, we'd like to extend our condolences to the two men who were killed and our hopes that the four men who were injured are able to recover from this situation.  In addition, this fatal Staten Island car accident will only add to the overall statistics regarding New York car accidents.  Every year, more than 300,000 such accidents take place, leading to more than 187,000 injuries and more than 1,200 deaths.

New York DUI Accident Lawyers

What's perhaps worst about this situation is that police had to take a DNA sample from the driver's side airbag just to identify the driver.  If those who were injured and the person who was killed bring New York personal injury lawsuits against the driver, they could be awarded damages that compensate them for medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering depending on the circumstances of the situation.
