Four People Killed in New York Plane Crash

Statistically speaking, flying is safer than driving, but when something goes wrong in the sky, the situation can quickly turn into a disaster.  This is obviously because of the speeds and altitudes involved, as people generally have little chance of survival when a plane crash occurs.  Tragically, something went terribly wrong over the weekend in a New York plane crash that took the life of all four people aboard the small vessel.  Authorities are already investigating the situation.

According to the authorities, this fatal New York plane crash occurred yesterday when an experienced flight instructor, his wife, their teen daughter and their daughter's friend were aboard a small private plane that attempted to take off from the Westchester County Airport in White Plains.  Soon thereafter, the pilot attempted to turn the plane around and land, but it did not make the landing, crashed and burst into flames.  Everyone on the plane was killed, and no cause for the crash has yet been identified.

New York Plane Crash Statistics

First and foremost, we'd like to offer our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the people who were killed.  Losing four lives in this violent and sudden manner is always a tragedy.  In addition, this White Plains plane crash will now become part of the overall statistics regarding New York plane crashes.  In 2010 alone, there were 44 plane crashes involving vessels of all types and sizes, and nine people were killed as a result of these occurrences.

New York Wrongful Death Lawyers

Any New York wrongful death lawsuits that could be filed in response to this White Plains plane crash will likely depend on the ability of authorities to identify a cause for the crash.  If it turns out that there was a mechanical problem or a defect in the plane, then both families could file lawsuits against those allegedly responsible for the crash.  However, if it was pilot error, then it's possible that the family of friend who was killed could file a claim seeking damages.

If you have lost someone you love in any sort of crash, you need to seek the help of New York wrongful death lawyers who have been fighting for the rights of grieving families for 40 years.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today to schedule a free initial consultation.
