Boating is one of the most popular pastimes during the warm months of the year in New York, and given the geography of the state, there is more than enough opportunity for people to get out on the water and enjoy a day or an evening away from land.  Unfortunately, this popularity also leads to the possibility of New York boating accidents, and tragically, that's what occurred during the early hours of Sunday that left four people dead and two others seriously injured.

According to the authorities, this upstate New York boating accident occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 4:30 a.m., according to the estimate of experts.  The crash occurred along the Hudson River in Dutchess County when a powerboat struck a concrete abutment and sank.  Four people were killed, but two others who were badly injured managed to make it to shore and call for rescue help.  The boat was found and there were beer bottles found on it, but authorities have not yet determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
