Flatbush Car Accident Brings More Scrutiny to Dangerous Intersection

There are certain spots in New York that are infamous for the dangers they present.  For whatever reason, some spots lead to a high number of New York car accidents.  One such location was once again the setting for yet another collision yesterday afternoon, and those who live and work in the area are continuing to place pressure on the local authorities to do something about the disastrous trend that's playing out in that intersection.

The latest New York car accident that occurred in the notorious intersection of Utica Avenue and Avenue D on Thursday afternoon when a driver attempted to make a left turn from from Utica Avenue onto Avenue D failed to yield the right-of-way to an oncoming vehicle that was traveling in a southbound direction on Utica Avenue.  A collision ensued and both drivers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.  No word was given on their condition, but this incident is one of several that has taken place in this spot in just the past few months.

New York Car Accident Statistics

First, we'd like to extend our thoughts and hopes that those who were harmed in this latest New York car accident are able to overcome their injuries quickly.  Secondly, this incident will only add to the statistics regarding New York car accidents overall.  Every year, more than 300,000 New York car accidents take place, leading to more than 187,000 injuries and more than 1,200 deaths across the state.

New York Personal Injury Lawyers

If it turns out that the driver who failed to yield the right-of-way was in fact negligent, the injured driver who was traveling along properly could have legal options that include the filing of a New York personal injury lawsuit.  If such a lawsuit was successful, the plaintiff could be awarded damages that include compensation for medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.  However, these sorts of decisions should only be made with the help of New York car accident lawyers who understand the nuances of the law of negligence and who have a long track record of holding negligent drivers accountable.
