Brother and Sister Injured in Queens Pedestrian Accident

Children playing in front of their home generally do not have a care in the world other than what's happening directly in front of them.  Most are too young to consider the dangers presented by vehicles, particularly since they are not in the street.  Sadly, the worlds of two children who are siblings was turned upside down recently when an out-of-control vehicle crashed into them in a Queens pedestrian accident that left a little boy injured and a little girl in critical condition.

The latest Queens pedestrian accident occurred on Sunday afternoon at the home of the children.  The boy, 11 and his sister, 4, were playing in front of the family home on 160th Street near North Conduit Boulevard in Springfield Gardens.  The driver of a Mercury sedan, 39-year-old Anthony Grays of Queens was apparently involved in an argument with his passenger and lost control of his vehicle.  It went through a fence and injured 11-year-old Tydian Sylla.  4-year-old Aicha Sylla was more seriously injured and is in critical condition.

New York Pedestrian Accident Statistics

First and foremost, we hope that the children who were harmed are able to recover from their injuries and move on with their lives after this horrifying experience.  In addition, this Queens pedestrian accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding New York pedestrian accidents.  Every year in the state, more than 15,000 such accidents occur, leading to nearly as many injuries and to more than 300 fatalities.

New York Personal Injury Lawyers

Based on the facts presently available, this seems to be a clear case of an inattentive driver causing an accident if all of the information is accurate.  If so, the family could file a New York personal injury lawsuit against the driver, and if the lawsuit is successful it could lead to an award of damages that compensates the family for their medical costs, the child's pain and suffering and other forms of loss depending on all of the details surrounding this situation.

If you or someone you love has been harmed by a distracted driver, you need to seek the help of New York personal injury lawyers who have been holding those responsible for this type of harm accountable for nearly 40 years.  Contact Fitzgerald & Fitzgerald today to schedule a free initial consultation.
