What is Hemiparesis?

Hemiparesis is the partial paralysis of one side of the body. In the case above, the hemiparesis was on the right side. Hemiparesis is associated with hemiplegia, also known as hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Hemiparesis is caused by damage to part of the brain. This damage can happen in utero, at birth, or later by a birth injury related to an accident, illness or stroke. Hemiparesis usually results in some learning difficulties.

An infant with hemiparesis will have significant medical bills and expenses for special care. If you retain The Fitzgerald Law Firm to represent your child, we will investigate your child’s medical records, including records from the pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum periods. After consulting with pediatric neurologists and other medical experts, we will attempt to identify the cause and time of your child’s hemiparesis. If the hemiparesis could have been avoided, we will seek to recover compensation from those responsible.
