Trucking accidents seemingly always leave behind a scene of destruction, and a recent fatal Canastota trucking accident was no different.  Tragically, a man was killed after being crushed by one of the trucks involved that had fish-tailed after moving back and forth across lanes.  Now comes word that one of the truck drivers involved in this accident has been arrested for providing false statements to police as they investigated the incident.

According to police, this fatal Canastota trucking accident occurred on September 30 at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the on the Thruway near the Canastota exit.  Two vehicles had stalled in the left lane, and vehicles had attempted to move to the right in order to avoid them.  Two of those vehicles were trash-hauling trucks.  One of them, driven by David J. Gorinshek, 44, of Fairfield, attempted the same maneuver, but moved back to the left suddenly and crushed the Hyundai driven by Michael Almy.  Mr. Almy did not survive the crash, and the truck driver allegedly made false statements regarding the incident.  He has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor as a result.
